Located in Mountain View, California, Bayside Fencing Club was started in 2023. We believe that fencing success has everything to do with the club and coaches. We pride ourselves on our exceptional facility, our world-class coaches and our dynamic programs.
About USBayside Fencing Club teaches epée fencing at all levels, from beginners to advanced fencers. We offer private instruction as well as group fencing lessons. We encourage our students to try their best, whether they want to fence recreationally or on the national or even international level. We promote sportsmanship on and off the strip.Why Fencing
Fencing is a specialized olympic sport. The physical benefits of fencing include increased coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular endurance. These come with additional benefits of training the reflexes and tactical training for the brain.Collegiate Fencing
Fencing gives an extra advantage when applying to higher education. The best universities in the US have fencing programs including most Ivy League schools.
Our Facility
* A 7156 sq. ft. freestanding building features a ~6000 sq. ft. open area.
* Equipped with air conditioning, 15 full-length electric strips, WiFi, comfortable viewing area, targets, locker room and shower.

Coach Dima Chumak is an Olympian himself in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He was a member of Ukrainian National Epee Team for 10 years, and was two-time World Championship Medalist, European Champion and two-time European Bronze Medalist, World University Games Champion and many more world titles.
Coach Dima was also a two-time Junior World Championship medalist and Junior European Champion.
Equally impressive is coach Dima’s coaching career. His students include 2020 Tokyo Olympics Champion Romain Cannone, and many US national champions and medalists. Coach Dima was a fencing instructor at the Ukrainian National team. Since coming to the US in 2009, he coached at the Fencing Academy of Westchester in NY and AFM in CA.
As a three-time consecutive NCAA champion, coach Slava Zingerman is an accomplished fencer. He started fencing at age 10 in Israel and has been a competitive fencer since 1994. Slava was 11 times Israel National Champion in all age categories - Cadet, Junior and Senior and was a member of Cadet, Junior, and Senior Israeli National Team. Coach Slava took part in numerous National and International competitions including World Cups, European and World Championships and won many medals in Junior World Cups in addition to finishing third in the FIE World Cup ranking in 2003.
While coach Slava was on a full scholarship at Wayne State University, he became only the second person (Risto Hurme of New York University was the first in 1973-74-75) in NCAA history to win three consecutive NCAA titles (2007, 2008, 2009) since the NCAA began competition in 1941.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from WSU in 2011, coach Slava coached at the Manhattan Fencing Center, New York Fencing Academy and AFM. In addition, coach Slava also served as an assistant coach at Duke University and the latest endeavor as the head coach at WSU. During Slava’s coaching career, he coached numerous medalists during the NACs, JOs, Summer Nationals, and the regionals.
